Ensuring the fire safety of the base station of mobile communication, which performs transmitting and receiving functions, is an integral part of the activity of communication providers. The article presents the facts of the operation of mobile communication in the world and in Ukraine, the existing possibilities of radio signal coverage, forecasts of industry analysts regarding the satisfaction of the growing demand of mobile communication subscribers, the expansion of the service area due to the increase in the number of mobile communication base stations.
Statistical data on fires in the premises of base stations and mobile towers, which make up the complex of reception and transmission facilities of the telecommunications industry, were analyzed. The analysis of foreign and domestic literary sources indicates an increased risk for people's safety of mobile base stations installed in residential areas, schools or other objects with a mass presence of people or critical infrastructure objects. It is noted that the increase in malfunctions of mobile communication base stations caused by fires is a negative factor in the development of the telecommunications sector and requires appropriate efforts and ways to prevent them. The analysis of the legal framework in force in Ukraine, which determines the fire protection of the premises of mobile communication base stations, made it possible to identify certain conflicts that need to be resolved under today's conditions.
Urgent tasks for further scientific research aimed at improving the protection of mobile communication base stations against fires have been determined, in particular, taking into account the best global practices. The results of the work will be a prerequisite for further experimental studies on the feasibility or lack of feasibility of equipping the premises of mobile communication base stations with automatic and autonomous fire extinguishing systems.
