Abstract

The article addresses the problem of forming a functional field of information and technical methods for preventing emergencies caused by the hazardous impact of remnants of rocket and artillery systems on the environment and territory, in particular soil contamination with toxic substances that may retain their toxicity over an extended period. Due to difficulties in conducting conventional monitoring under conditions of armed conflict, an indirect risk assessment method is proposed based on geospatial analysis of the number and distribution of strike points, taking into account natural factors influencing the spread of hazardous substances in the soil. For modeling purposes, the territory is divided into discrete cells within which the cumulative intensity of toxic impact is calculated, considering spatial interactions of impact zones, geological soil characteristics, and meteorological conditions. The proposed analytical formulas describe the intensity of influence, modified by coefficients of geological vulnerability and meteorological conditions, as well as the calculation of a relative toxicity index for each cell. To assess the potential impact on the population, a generalized index is introduced that combines toxicity, population vulnerability, and the probability of pollutant migration into the environment.

A geospatial approach was applied in the study. The intensity of impact from each strike is modeled using an analytical linear function that accounts for the spatial dependence on the distance from the center of impact.

The modeling results can be presented as risk heat maps, allowing identification of critical zones for monitoring, evacuation, or preventive measures, which is especially relevant when access to field studies is limited. The model also accounts for temporal changes in toxicity due to degradation or accumulation processes, making it an effective tool for risk assessment and the development of preventive strategies in emergency situations related to soil contamination in combat zones.
